| These 1940s photos of the Fanning Depot were contributed by Joe Vitali. Thanks Joe. The following comments are his. The first picture is the 1945 fanning Frisco depot. The people standing near the depot are my uncle and aunt Emil and Elvira Pesselato from St. Louis, MO. This depot was not interesting. It was an 8ft by 10ft building with no windows and a pad locked door for storing parcel post packages for shipment. The second is a 1946 picture of my dad, Sam Vitali, Fanning Postmaster, hanging the mail sack, which he did twice a day. My dad was born 120 years ago yesterday. (Sept 20, 2006) The third picture is of Sam Vitali's store and Post Office, and my uncle Joe Bacialli's Speedway garage, both on the north side of the railroad tracks. |
