| The St. Francois County RR was an electric line for most of its life (1904-1957) and only owned one depot (Farmington). It connected with the MP at De Lassus and used the MP depot. From De Lassus, the line traveled northwesterly along Hwy W to the city limit where it moved to the center of Columbia St. The line snaked around the Farmington Streets and provided service to several local businesses including Giessings upper and lower mills. The railroad traveled down parts of Columbia, Washington, North and Potosi Streets and left the pavement at the north edge of town just east of the property that is now occupied by Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. In the early years, the line reached Hurryville where it ran parallel with the Illinois Southern (Missouri-Illinois) RR to Esther. At Esther the line veered off to south a proceeded directly into Flat River. At Crawley Bottom, St Francois County cars took to the MR&BT Ry Crawley branch for the short trip to the MR&BT depot at Flat River. Around 1927. The St. FC RR tracks from Hurryville to Flat River were torn up and trains into Flat River utilized the Missouri-Illinois trackage into Flat River. The line was operated with diesel-electric power in its last years and was finally abandoned in 1957.
