| This 1904 photo of the Fremsdorf Tower was contributed by Timothy Cannon. Thanks Tim. The following comments are his. This is Fremsdorf, a place about 2 miles due east from old Illmo. My guess is that the boxcar was temporary until the interlocking tower was operational. I think this is where the Cotton Belt (the line to Gray's Point) and the Frisco (Houck's St. Louis and Gulf) crossed. I have another picture of a Cotton Belt interlocking tower at Illmo taken about the same time. They are almost identical in design. N0TE: I know I don't usually put anything but depots on the site, but the way the box car was used in this photo intrigued me. |
