| These photos were donated by, and the comments below are by Gary Roe. La Plata was at Mile Post 190.9 on the Wabash 15th District Main Line between Moberly and Moulton, Iowa; 43.1 miles north of Moberly. The photographer is looking northerly toward Moulton in this view from 1951. Approximately one half mile north of here, the Wabash crosses over the ATSF double track main line between Chicago and Kansas City. The interchange track to the ATSF is just out of site to the north and goes off to the west and down grade to the Santa Fe. The baggage end of this station was shortened quite a bit in later years, and the operators bay was torn out by a derailed freight car. (See second photo from 1977.) |
