| This 1965 photo of the Moscow Mills Depot was contributed by Phillip Starks. The comments below are his; The Moscow Depot was located on a branch line between Old Monroe and Francis. Francis was a jct. where the CB&Q & GM&O merged. We got on the GM&O at Francis and had a train that ran from East St. Louis to KC via CB&Q & GM&O and a local that ran from Old Monroe to Mexico, MO. In the steam engine days, the steamer was turned at Francis before backing into Mexico and returned to Old Monroe where it was tied up overnight. Thanks Phillip. NOTE: Our list is actually for the cities in Missouri with depots and not what the RR called them. However, it would be appropriate to note that the Railroad listed this depot by the shorter name of Moscow. There are a number of other cases like this where the RR and the city's official names were different. |
