This 1945 photo of the Monon Engine 412 in front of the Neosho Depot was contributed by Les Beckman    Thanks Les. The following comments are his.
We have just recently learned that the Monon Railroad leased a number of steam locomotives to the Kansas City Southern during the Second World War. This color photo of Monon 4-6-2 # 412 sitting in front of a train station was identified as Bedford (Indiana) but the station is NOT the station in Bedford. Nor is it any other depot on the Monon. Recently, through some help from a couple of different people, we learned that this particular engine was used in passenger train helper service south out of Neosho, Missouri while in service for the KCS. Could our photo possibly show Monon # 412 sitting in front of the Neosho KCS station?
NOTE: Yes it does. Thanks to Les Beckman, we now have a very rare photo of the Monon Steam engine 412 setting in front of the KCS Neosho depot in 1945!
