| This 2007 photo of New Bloomfield was contributed by William Bunch. Thanks Bill. The following comments made in May 2007 are his. In Jeff City yesterday I headed up old hwy 54. I have been through New Bloomfield a dozen times.. located the old Chicago & Alton r-o-w, but didn't think the depot was still there. The tracks have been gone probably since the 40s. This line used to come down from the main at Mexico all the way to Cedar City on the Missouri River. Passengers were ferried across the river to Jeff City. Anyway, as I was going through New Bloomfield, I spotted a suspicious looking house with a large overhang. Upon close inspection, I noted the telltale roof brackets. They moved the depot into New Bloomfield. I confirmed it with an elderly lady next door. |
