| This 1977 photo of the Old Monroe Depot was contributed by Scott Tiek. Thanks Scott. NOTE: The following comments are by Bill Bunch. Interesting story about Old Monroe. My mom told me that her mother had a great uncle that lived up in that area near Troy. His name was Monroe Johnson (I think that was his last name)... they called him Old Uncle Monroe. He had a roadside stand selling vegetables and fruit and baskets that he wove. We have always assumed the little town that sprung up there was named for him. |
