| This photo was donated by, and the comments below are by Gary Roe. This is a rare one! Sampsel is on the Wabash 18th District Main Line at Mile Post 233.8. The photographer is looking eastward toward Chillicothe. About 2 miles to the east, is a gravel quarry where the Wabash obtained a lot of the ballast that they used for their track along this line to Council Bluffs. It was limestone; but had a bit of a rusty orange color to it...very distinctive. |
