| These 1880s photos of the Old St. Louis Union Depot were contributed by James Wilson Thanks Jim. The following comments are his. This structure, built in 1875 and pulled down in 1895, preceded the present St. Louis Union Station. It was a "through" station (unlike SLUS), and stood on Poplar street between 9th St and 12th St (now Tucker). These photos are included in the book "St Louis Union Station" by A. Montesi and R. Deposki. (Arcadia Publishing, Chicago, 2002).. Montesi and Deposki state that the Union Depot was obsolete by 1885, at which time planning for SLUS began. |
