| This 2005 photo was contributed by the current occupants of the depot, Dennis Kramme. The comments are his. When the new depot was built in the 30s?, the old depot (1850) was raised and moved just down the tracks to the west. The city purchased the old depot several years ago and did a renovation to the exterior. The building was used for various purposes and then in 1999, my wife and I leased the depot and opened an Amish Bulk Food Store there. We are still very much in existence today. The exterior of the building is almost identical to the 1907 picture. We are located at 325 West Front street in Washington, MO. The interior has been changed somewhat with the east end of the building being used for our store and the west half used as an open warehouse. I'm thinking someone said it was one if not the oldest remaining depots west of the Mississippi? The bay window is still there. |
