| This 1920s photo of the Wheaton Depot was contributed by Betty Lamberson. Thanks Betty. The following comments are hers. We have used this photo on the cover and in the Wheaton Echoes Book we published for our Centennial Celebration in July of 2007. We have organized a Wheaton Historical Society and Depot Museum recently to rehabilitate the Depot. As you can tell by the photos now on your site, it is in bad shape. We are the last standing Depot in all of Barry County. My Grandfather Walter William Hoyt was the Station agent in Wheaton for the longest period of time. There were four others. but he came there in 1925 and was there when it closed in 1947. I believe that the man standing in the picture in the white shirt is my Grandfather. The other two are Reed's. |
